What women have said about the help they received through the Women’s Counselling Program:
I had been feeling lost for so long and didn’t really know what to do. I seriously thought about ending my own life. I didn’t see the point in living. I finally called the crisis line at the Centre and they helped me to not do something stupid. I am alive today because of them. To me, they are my angels; my heroes.
The team at the Centre accepted me for who I was. I had a severe eating disorder and would hurt myself so that I would not be in emotional pain. The people at the crisis centre gave me the tools to stop cutting. Now when I look in the mirror I see someone beautiful. I love me, for me.
I was only 15 years old when my mom took her life. The centre helped me in so many ways, from being there to tell me that it happened, to helping me pick out her outfit for the funeral, to helping me say goodbye. I am forever grateful to them for everything that they do for me and for other girls like me that go through loss.
