All positions are open to high school students in order to collect community service hours. See the Volunteer job descriptions below!

Race Kit Pickup
Timing: 3 days before event (at local Running Room), and morning of event (at event location)

Comfortable interacting 1 on 1 with participants, in a friendly and welcoming manner.

Check in participants, and register new participants for the event.

Provide participants with any event specific information/reminders if required

Hand participants assigned bib, and correct t-shirt size.
Event Site Set-up
Timing: Event day
-
Set up event site, tables, tents etc.

Set up materials and signage
-
Assisting other leads or volunteers with set up as required
Course Marshal
Timing: Event day
-
Comfortable standing throughout the 5K/10K event, may be required to walk to the water station location.

Comfortable directing participants
-
Cheer participants on as they pass on the course
-
Communicate required information to participants as they pass their location on the course (ex: direction, watch your step, etc.)
Water Station
Timing: Event day
-
Comfortable standing throughout the 5K/10K event, may be required to walk to the water station location.

Pre-fill cups of water prior to the event starting
-
Hand out cups of water as participants pass the water station
-
Clean up waste throughout the event/following the event
Swag Bag Distributor
Timing: Event day
-
Comfortable standing for a period of time, and able to move in a quick manner.
-
Hand out swag bags and additional swag items to participants
-
Break down packaging/boxes as bags are handed out
-
Clean up the swag-bag area once all bags have been distributed
Food & Beverage Distributor
Timing: Event day
-
Hand out finishers food and water at the tent as participants complete their 5K/10K
-
Monitor food distribution to ensure participants take what is allotted for each individual

Clean up garbage/packaging throughout the event and at the end of the event
-
Ensure that water cups are refilled as participants take them
Race Kit Pick Up On Event Day
Timing: Event Day

Prepare race kits to be distributed to volunteers with materials provided
-
Assist with ensuring the RKPU area is well maintained
-
Assist in breaking down boxes and clean up after the race kits have been prepared
Bag Check-in
Timing: Event day
-
Comfortable interacting 1 on 1 with participants
-
Must be organized and responsible for storing participants personal belongings
-
Collect participants bags/coats, and store them for the duration of the event
-
Re-distribute personal belongings post-event
Start/Finish Line
Timing: Event day
-
Hand out finisher bracelets and Little Steps medals as participants cross the finish line
-
Congratulate participants as they cross the finish line
-
Setup beverage tables at the Finish Line
-
Hand out bottled beverages to participants as they cross the finish line
-
Ensure that water cups are refilled as participants cross the finish line
Social Media Capture
Timing: Event day
-
Capture social media content (video and photo) at the event for social media stories
-
A list of the specific photos and videos required will be provided and should be followed as closely as possible
-
Experience using social media (Instagram)
-
Newer version iPhone with decent photo/video capabilities (no androids)
-
Ability to send video/images in real time to the Social Media Manager
Post-Event Tear Down
Timing: Event day
-
Assist with taking down materials at the end of the event, as required.

Assist other Leads or Volunteers with taking down tents, etc.
-
Collect supplies(signage, tables, chairs, garbage bags, etc.)
-
Clean up event site as required
