We sincerely hope that you will join us in our fundraising efforts with a donation. Together we can support the kind of research and therapy that can change the lives of women and newborns challenged by substance use.
Having a baby is a momentous and life changing event for any woman. For women struggling with substance use, it can be a pivotal turning point – a time for breaking cycles and setting out on a healthier trajectory. BC Women’s recognizes the power of this special time. BC Women’s Families in Recovery (FIR) Clinic is a world leader in providing compassionate, non-judgemental care to women so they can heal, stabolize and recover from substance use with their babies in the safety of a hospital environment. Addiction does not occur independently. Adverse circumstances such as poverty, trauma, social isolation, depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder often play a role. Left untreated, mental health issues can wreak havoc in families for generations. Dedicated support for research into mental health programming will shed new light on how to best support women to transition towards a healthy lifestyle. Thanks to your donation, innovative mental health therapies will be developed to give women and newborns their best chance for a healthy life.
