“We're here to encourage mothers to unite because really... we have more similarities than differences. Plus, it's time to share some real moments to normalize motherhood and highlight the beauty within the chaos.” Social entrepreneur and loving mother of two, Joanne Ma, shares her story with the aim to connect other amazing mothers to encourage further research and community support around subjects such as Post-Partum Depression and Anxiety (PPD &PPA). The SHOPPERS LOVE. YOU. Run for Women will give women new tools to combat post-partum depression. Thru an innovative research project at BC Women’s, women from across BC will have easy access to web-based treatment for depression – through an app!
Please join us in our fundraising efforts with a donation. Together we can support BC Women’s researchers at the Women’s Health Research Institute to develop new E-health tools for women suffering from Post-partum Depression.
Everyone expects having a baby to be a joyful time. But for at least 1 in 10 new mothers, Post-partum Depression can mean that every day is a struggle – and newcomer and Indigenous women are even more at risk. Instead of feeling healthy and happy, women can be debilitated by a broad spectrum of symptoms, from depression, anxiety, exhaustion, and insomnia to extreme guilt for feeling the way they do.
There are evidence-based treatment options that help – but far too often women do not get the diagnosis and treatment they need. They suffer in isolation. Your donation will help to develop a web-based psychological intervention for women with Post-partum Depression – the SUPPORT app – specifically adapted to meet the unique needs of Indigenous and newcomer women in BC.
Thanks to your donation,
the new SUPPORT app will offer women practical tools and guidance
to combat Post-partum Depression.
