Update on COVID-19 and Run for Women brought to you by the LOVE YOU by Shoppers Drug Mart™ program
March 24, 2020
Like all Canadians, we have been closely following the rapidly evolving COVID-19 situation. Given our runs were due to start in just a few short weeks, we wanted to take this opportunity to update you on the steps we are taking to plan ahead, in order to ensure the safety of all participants.
At this time, our plan is to host the 2020 Run for Women events, however, some events will be postponed. Specifically, our plan is as follows:
Events originally scheduled for before June 1: Although dates are not yet finalized, we are working with cities to re-schedule for later in the summer. We will notify participants once a new date is confirmed.
Events originally scheduled for later than June 1: Our hope is that events scheduled after June 1 will proceed as planned, however our final event decisions will be guided by direction from public health officials from all levels of government. We will update participants on event date changes if they occur.
While we work to give you more information regarding rescheduled events, we ask you to keep in mind our Run for Women charity partners, currently on the front line. Some of our charities represent the front line health workers who are delivering the essential COVID-19 testing and hospital in-patient services. Others are developing creative solutions to support their mental health clients through virtual meetings to accommodate social distancing. Their work in the face of the current global challenge is inspiring.
Mental health programming has never been more important, which is why we remain hopeful, and look forward to eventually gathering, as we always have. So, let’s continue to raise a little help – it is needed now more than ever. We will continue to update you on plans as they evolve, so please follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for regular updates.
