When you participate in SHOPPERS LOVE. YOU. Run for Women – Kitchener/Waterloo you are telling the women in your life and community they are not alone, recovery is possible and we’re in this together.
Studies have shown that women are three times more likely than men to suffer from depression, and one in four women will experience some form of depression in their lifetime. This need is being addressed by Grand River Hospital so that the women in our region are better supported.
Our community’s commitment to women’s mental health has never been stronger. In 2017, the SHOPPERS.LOVE.YOU. Run for Women brought together 600 community members, including Grand River Hospital and Foundation staff, to run or walk in support of Grand River Hospital’s mental health and addictions program.
The event raised a record-breaking $140,000 which will enable Grand River Hospital to expand its mental health and addiction program to include a program designed to specifically address the unique needs of women. We look forward to launching this new program, the Women’s Concurrent Disorder Group.
Grand River Hospital’s mental health program provides exceptional care to patients of all ages. For all of our patients and their families our goal is to instill hope and foster recovery.
“There is tremendous power in these community based events. We’re thrilled to be able to partner with and support Grand River Hospital. Together we are supporting women to live their best life”. Leigh Smith, Pharmacist/Owner
Mothers, grandmothers, sisters, daughters, wives, friends – the women in our lives tend to put aside their needs to help everyone else and often struggle with mental health challenges alone. Your fundraising efforts will directly help the women in Waterloo Region who access services in Grand River Hospital’s mental health program. To learn more visit http://www.grhf.org
